Asher levels a bet to Brighton: enter into a sex bet to see who can make the other beg first. When, not if, Brighton wins, she'll get a summer internship with Asher's MLB team, sufficiently adding to her medical school application.
At first, the bet is easy. But Asher has a way of making Brighton weak when she doesn't want to be. Soon, he's her biggest cheerleader about her career, comforts her after a patient dies, and shows up at her sorority mixer just to bask in her presence. He desires her so fiercely that he declares he's falling in love with her in front of 200 people.
But Brighton can't go there. With one wrong step, she could do a lot more damage than falling behind on her med school applications.
Will Brighton give the man she can't stop thinking and dreaming about a chance? Or does she stick with her promise to herself-which means no flings, no relationships, and no attachments whatsoever, in hopes of protecting the people she loves from heartbreak?
