This book is about an apparition named Mary. Mary has been haunting Dead Beach, Massachusetts since she died. Her soul wanted a respectful resting place after she was brutally murdered because the angry villagers mistook her as a witch. Mary's apparition made an inspiration on a bunch of kids who got off the school bus centuries later. Patsy had to run the longest distance to get away from Mary's apparition. The kids saw Mary's apparition walking to the beach house. After Mary's apparition walked to the beach house, Patsy and her friends rode their bicycles to the beach house. They decided that Mary's apparition disappeared.
Later, Patsy met her best friend Monika. Patsy and Monika went to Massachusetts together to meet the lady with the wooden candlestick holder. The lady with the wooden candlestick holder was Mary. Mary's apparition saved their lives. This means that Mary's apparition was not a bad ghost. Mary's apparition was actually good.
