The Heart That Touched the Sky: The Virgin Mary and You
This novella aims to present the Virgin Mary immersed in everyday life. It tells
the story of a small neighborhood full of contrasts and secrets, where a group
of characters struggles to find meaning in their lives, influenced by a central
figure: the Virgin Mary. Each character faces personal challenges that lead
them to question their faith, their choices, and their ability to change.
Perfecta, obsessed with maintaining a flawless image, discovers that external
perfection does not fill the emptiness within her. Sufrida, marked by bipolarity
and a history of failed relationships, learns to forgive her past and look ahead.
Doblada, who has spent years burdened by guilt and resentment, finds in
Marian devotion an unexpected strength to reconcile with herself. Meanwhile,
the skeptics Clodomiro and Bartolo watch in disbelief as their wives begin to
transform. Although they suspect these changes may be temporary, the small
acts of love and faith they witness begin to plant seeds of doubt in their own
cynicism.
The plot weaves together reflections on the Virgin Mary and how her example
of humility and devotion can touch even the hardest of hearts. Through
encounters, tensions, and introspections, the characters explore what it
means to open oneself to God and allow grace to transform their lives.
The novel concludes with a challenging question, addressed both to the
characters and the reader: How does your faith influence your life? Are you
capable of letting it touch your heart, as Mary did?
The Heart That Touched the Sky: The Virgin Mary and You is a moving story
about the struggle for change, the power of forgiveness, and the search for an
authentic life under Mary's maternal gaze.
