James Hingston Tuckey (August 1776 - October 4, 1816) was an Irish-born British explorer and a captain in the Royal Navy. Tuckey had a distinguished naval career, participating in various expeditions, including those to the Red Sea and Australia. His most notable achievement was leading the 1816 expedition to explore the Congo River. Unfortunately, Tuckey succumbed to fever during the expedition and passed away on October 4, 1816, in Moanda, in what is now the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
