The reader may think that the story of the Portuguese King Sebastian, and the story of his appearance twenty years after his death was announced in the Battle of the Grand Palace in Morocco against Sultan Abd al-Malik on August 4, 1578 AD deals with a specific historical moment of conflict between Christian Europe and the Muslims defending their religion, lands, and countries. Or perhaps it deals with the fate of one of the Crusades in which the young Portuguese king was severely defeated in a few hours against the Moroccan Muslim army and its supporters.
However, the true story is much deeper than that. As much as it reveals to us the history of that era and its conflicts, it is also full of minute details which it reveals, analyzes, and dismantles, exploring the return of the awaited king to his troubled state then governed by Spain in an intriguing narrative style.
