Nell’Apologia, pubblicata nel 1518, Pomponazzi riafferma con forza l’interpretazione mortalista della psicologia aristotelica già proposta nel Trattato sull’immortalità dell’anima, affronta i temi che saranno di lì a poco ripresi e approfonditi nel De incantationibus e nel De fato (la demonologia, il profetismo, l’oroscopo delle religioni e la libertà umana) e delinea, dal punto di vista di un laico, il ruolo educativo che il clero dovrebbe svolgere all’interno della società contemporanea. -----In the Apology, published in 1518, Pomponazzi reasserts the mortalist interpretation of Aristotelian psychology, already endorsed in the Treatise on the Immortality of the Soul. Then he addresses the themes he will return to and explore further in De incantationibus and De fato (demonology, prophecy, horoscope of religions and human freedom). Finally, from a secular perspective, he traces the educational role the clergy should play within the contemporary society.
