The story gives the reader a glimpse into the past and present, showing how cultures and society have been and still are barriers to same-sex love. It also highlights the courage and resilience of individuals. There are obstacles when considering a life together. Both agree on aiming to remove the barriers and plan a life together, having no idea what that life will look like, what the future will hold for them, and whether they will succeed.
