Beschreibung
The book Nehru and the Cabinet Mission : A Road to Indias freedom Struggle is an analysis of the events of our freedom struggle from the pen of a mature historian, deals primarily the policy of the Congress at the end of the world war II Visa-Vis Jinnahs claim of Pakistan on the basis of his Two-Nation theory. The attitude of Nehru towards the I. N. A. of Netaji Subhas, the original plan of the Cabinet Mission for the freedom of India and its changed-policy after the Great Calcutta-Killing in August 1946, Jinnah-Nehru-Wavell tangle during the formation of the Interim-Government, role of Churchill from London and lack of timely decision among the Congress created many complex problems in Indian subcontinent. Neither Jinnahs theory of Two-Nation nor Gandhis efforts of establishing peace for Hindu-Muslim unity could stand on the test of time. Jawaharlal was a great patriot who made immense contributions for Indias freedom. He was the founder of the Policy of Non-alignment among countries of the third world. But his idealism sometimes stood on the way of Indias unity. After the Quit India Movement in 1942, the Congress launched no movement and following the policy of negotiations they :could not undertake a firm decision. the Congress made hasty decision mad accepted partition before the arrival of Mountbatten.
