Xu Jialin was born in Guiyang City in Guizhou Province in October 1941, and graduated in 1961 from art school affiliated to Guizhou Minzu Institute, and graduated in 1965 from Chinese Painting major in Department of Art, Guizhou University. He successively studied from the famous traditional Chinese painters Song Yinke, Wang Yufu and Fang Xiaoshi, as well as Meng Guangtao, the disciple of master Xu Beihong. He is good at Chinese landscape painting and Chinese fine brushwork flower-and-bird painting, and began to publish works in 1959. Mr. Xu is currently a member of Chinese Artists Association, a member of Ningxia Artists Association, national first-class artist, art editor in Ningxia People's Publishing House, specially-appointed professor and honorary dean of Ningxia Painting and Calligraphy Correspondence Training Institute.
