Seminar paper from the year 2025 in the subject Engineering - Safety Engineering, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, course: Land Economy, language: English, abstract: The construction industry plays an important role in the development of countries however, statistics show that the industry encounters approximately 60,000 fatal accidents in their line ofnwork. These accidents are attributed to non-existent or unenforceable regulations. Therefore, thisnresearch aims to examine the occurrence of accidents at construction sites in Ayawaso West. Mixed research method was adopted for this study. The intended population comprised of workers at the construction sites within the Ayawaso West Municipality, Accra. The study employed purposive sampling techniques, while data collection was executed through interview and a questionnaire-based survey. Data obtained from this study was analyzed by mean score rankings and percentages. The study conclusions highlight the availability and safety of construction technology was assessed, highlighting concerns such as inadequate protective equipment, damaged machinery, and unsafe operating practices. Additionally, the effectiveness of safety measures are explored, with a correlation observed between adherence to safety protocols and reduced accidents. Furthermore, investigating the long-term cost impact of safety measures and exploring regular training sessions on construction safety, emergency procedures, and the proper use of safety equipment should be conducted for all workers on construction sites. Again, the Ghanaian government should examine and update construction safety codes, and ensure their effective administration and execution.
