Beschreibung
Research Paper (postgraduate) from the year 1998 in the subject Business economics - Information Management, grade: NA, University of West London (Brentford (The Claude Littner Business School)), course: Business Information Systems, language: English, abstract: The paper aims to discuss about the case study profile and assessment of two global companies, Alarmlogic and Amazon. An evaluative and thematical comparison and ranking will underscore the need to determine and compare the website functionalities of these two global companies. Globalization is a phenomenon worldwide that affects each individual, businesses and organizations, whether directly or indirectly. This paper supposits the argument for adaptation to globalization and website improvements, as benefits outweigh drawbacks for these two firms due to intense competition. To understand globalization as a phenomenon, Giddens (1991) defines globalization as "the intensification of social relations throughout the world, linking distant localities in such a way that local happenings are formed as a result of events that occur many miles away and vice versa”. According to Held, Mcgrew, Goldblatt & Perraton (1999), the four elements to justify globalization must address, extension, intensity, celerity and impact. We can perceive how the technical functionalities of these two companies can address the global challenges posed to these globalized companies.
