Beschreibung

Killers on the Street is a colorful and educational picture book written in the style of a teaching tool / comic book, addressing drug abuse among young people and the potential for addictions. The material lends itself to a story type scenario that starts with peer pressure during a social gathering. As the story unfolds, the lifestyle and antics of two individuals become apparent through a sequence of events. Ned, Geoff and Matt are all friends and are typical young people on the cusp of adulthood and facing one of the pitfalls in modern-day societies. Ned and Geoff already engage in a drug taking lifestyle which leads them to experience consequences and repercussions associated with their lifestyle.

The character Matt, questions the dangers of drug use throughout the book while other characters in the book are voices of reason and logic. Ned & Geoff's recklessness, attitudes and behaviors cause the suffering of innocent people through their lifestyle mind-set and

latterly after tragic events, Matt and friends come together for a reality check summing up the subject from a realistic and sensible view point.

The book addresses some of the social dysfunctions and negative potentials surrounding or linked to drug using such as attitudes, actions, ideas & beliefs. The material operates as a direct approach about the problem of drug use among young people and its most common destructive elements on the fabric of society and communities in general. One example is an element depicting a theft to fuel a habit. The book also briefly touches on an element of violence and depicts the fall-out of that violence for the innocent people who encounter the drug fueled situation. The material uses typical scenarios to address peer pressure, lack of awareness and typical myths relating to the subject. The book gives much food for thought by pitting common inaccuracies and ignorance against a more realistic and positive way of thought, using plain language, simple logic & fact.
