Destructive earthquakes and time-traveling portals created by massive storms take our heroes and heroines to beautiful, exotic, strange, and dangerous places. Seth Jager falls through a storm portal and awakes from a two day sleep called Peregrine Sickness to discover his wife of seven hours is missing, and he has no idea where he is. This new world, where an electrical looking barrier separates the dimensions and the world of giants he sees just on the other side, is an experience he isn't quite sure he believes, even though he is witnessing it with his own eyes. A man named Simon Lane, who says he is Seth's mentor, tries to help Seth navigate this new world, but all he wants to do is get back to Caroline. According to his new friends, it is highly unlikely he will ever see her again.
