Beschreibung

Dr. Joey Strat is a veteran principal at Avenue Ridge High School. Summer should mean a time of rest—but that’s not Joey’s fate. Follow this poor guy through all the behind the scenes and unexpected events that take place from graduation night through to the first day of the new school year. Simultaneously, he recalls his own fifth grade summer and wishes to relive it just one more time with his family and lifelong friends. Joe is just trying to enjoy summertime. Instead, he deals with never-ending headaches as he handles unruly students, apathetic and incompetent staff and board members, and demanding and out-of-touch parents. Basically, Joe’s summer is anything but relaxing. Juxtaposed with these misadventures are memories of a far more enjoyable summer from Joe’s youth back in 1964, when summer break seemed never-ending and full of possibilities and excitement. Satirized by a real-life principal with thirty-five years’ experience under his belt, Is School Really Out for the Summer? jumps back and forth from present to past while making you nostalgic, making you laugh, and proving school is never really out for teachers.
