Beschreibung
Energy management is the process of monitoring, controlling and conserving energy in public and private sector organizations, businesses, shopping complexes, airports, railway stations, hospitals, public libraries and other public places and in homes as well. Energy saving efforts like encouraging people to use less energy by raising energy awareness come under behavioural aspects of energy saving and comprise only a part of energy management. The efforts made by energy suppliers or utility companies to ensure that their power stations and renewable energy sources generate enough energy to meet the energy demands of their customers also come under energy management. Energy management is crucial to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and damage to planet earth caused by the combustion of these fuels. The energy management practices are as important as the generation of energy itself. This volume on energy management will provide the reader a sufficiently broad background on the subject with practical approaches applicable to solution of energy management problems. A brief outline of the articles covered in this volume is as under: o Energy management o Energy management of hybrid systems o Energy management and demand side response o Demand side management in Indian power utilities o Multi objective congestion management in competitive electricity markets o Managing energy price risk o Empirical studies on the economic determinants to explain the changes in energy use o Dynamic cost model for the energy mix planning and the electrical grid management o Integrated economy-energy-environment (E3) modeling for policy analysis o Stand alone renewable energy systems for rural development o Energy optimization in food processing o Techno-economic survey of water flow in the photovoltaic pumping system o Analysis of hybrid systems based on complementary energy resources o Cloud computing techniques for energy design and optimization o Zonal reactive power market clearing model in competitive electricity markets o Porous media combustion technology o Analysis and results on control LED lamps with lighting flow dimmer-stabilizers o Magnetic refrigeration as a promising new technology o Energy storage mechanisms for harvesting hybrid renewable based electric power o Energy conservation in household, commercial and industrial processes o Building energy consumption and low carbon technologies o Impact of urbanization on outdoor and indoor thermal comfort in a subtropical setting The present volume is comprised of 30 chapters contributed by 73 academicians and active researchers from 19 countries, namely Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Colombia, France, Germany, India, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Taiwan, Turkey, United Kingdom and United States of America presenting an overview of the practices being adopted in different parts of the world in the field of Energy Management
