Beschreibung
Imagine the smells of sea foam and chocolate-scented orchids meandering through a macabre mansion as raindrops create hidden messages on the towering windows of a Thunderstorm Room you've just entered. You swear that one of the gargoyles guarding the front entrance winks at you as you glance out the open windows. It is dusk. A ribbon of bats dances across the sky. You turn around and notice old books written in Latin and German lining the walls alongside a row of framed photos of headstones of deceased souls dating back to the 1800s. On the coffin table sits a dimly lit candelabra while a black cat named Echo lies curled up nearby. You try to soften your footsteps on the creaky wooden floor, to no avail; however, Talon, the cryptozoologist father of the two teens who live on this vast estate, is preoccupied with gazing through his telescope, completely oblivious to your presence. Then, his lifelong love, Pandora, pagan and mother of Indigo and Cromwell, enters the room as they comment on how much they love the dark, dreary weather. Meanwhile, another unusual creature has been delivered to add to their collection of odd, rare, or thought to be extinct animals. You have entered the realm of a gothic family where the magical is real and the bizarre is normal, at 1313 Road to Nowhere in Foggy Point, Maine. Welcome to the Monsterjunkie Manor. Ah, but all is not well in the quirky Monsterjunkie world. Outside forces are scheming to rid them from the area while the teens and their friends cope with harassment for being different. When Cromwell ("e;Crow"e;) was fourteen, he was teased because of his last name. But this story is not about monsters; it's about an unusual last name and an unusual family legacy. Of course, it does not help that the name itself brings suspicion and rumors about what goes on at this mysterious residence. Will their private world be exposed? In The Monsterjunkies: Sanctuary, Indigo and Crow struggle with the consequences of love, loss, and trauma in the face of haters while wrestling with their own futures. Sanctuary focuses on an enchanting family trying to raise their children in a world that is not.
