Beschreibung
Congratulations on choosing the noble profession of acting! Whether you are just starting out or a seasoned actor, there is always room to grow. As a seasoned actor and coach, I have found over the years that there is not one specific style or technique that works universally for every actor... what works with one person may not be best for another. Like in life, you have to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty by trying them out yourself. It may be that you like certain aspects of one technique and other aspects of another. Bruce Lee, a well-respected martial artist, studied many different types of martial arts before creating his own form of martial arts called Jeet Kune Do. This is a book about an acting technique that integrates several other styles of acting, hence it is called The Holistic Acting Technique Handbook.
While the Holistic Acting Technique takes a page out of Bruce Lee's philosophy, it is not a substitute for other acting techniques nor is it meant to be a cliff notes version of each technique (ahem, sorry no cutting corners). It is a comprehensive approach that utilizes aspects of the other techniques that will help you create powerful and impactful performances. It also integrates the mind, body and soul so that you can optimize your entire acting instrument. The exercises in each chapter are designed to work your various acting muscles and do not have to be done in chronological order. The important thing is that you are doing these exercises to build your acting muscles to the best of your ability. Great, let's dive in!
