"The Burning..." is the story of a group of ordinary teenagers thrust into an unimaginable situation, and surrounded by seemingly insurmountable odds. Friends Lance, Nate, Ethan, Eric, Cassie, and her younger brother Jeremy, are looking forward to their Summer break from school. However, an enormous solar flare suddenly and inexplicably strikes Earth! Ramifications of the event are immediately felt as countless people are killed, plant life is decimated, and all means of digital communication are eviscerated! Lance and his friends, however, remain fully intact but must get to safety quick, when other survivors succumb to their worst impulses. The group eventually finds asylum with a neighbor, albeit momentarily. These teens are about to discover that in this dangerous new world there's no such place as, "safe."
