Beschreibung
In a time where transgender and gender expansive individuals are under attack, health professionals need to be prepared to meet their clients/patients where they are at. Gender-affirming care often includes knowing more than just about gender, so it is necessary to have an intersectional perspective that considers multiple frames of identity and experiences. Gendersections goes both into depth about gender-affirming care while also providing breadth through discussions of the intersections of gender with other considerations of a patient's experiences.
Gendersections is composed of five major sections:
Setting the Foundation - A primer on gender terminology and social justice.
Creating an Affirming Practice - Practical advice on creating an affirming practice from intake paperwork to therapeutic alliance-building.
Assessment and Medical Transition - An overview and critique of the WPATH Standards of Care, Version 8, including clinical best practices for working with gender-expansive clients.
Treatment Considerations - Break-out sections exploring common areas of lesser-discussed aspects of gender healthcare from working with parents and families of gender-expansive clients to ageing to practical information on how to assist clients in social transition.
Intersecting Experiences - Discussions of common intersections with gender expansiveness, including race, neurodivergence, disability, sex work, and poverty.
